Exciting news, Dear Reader! This week marks the return of not one, but two fantastic shows. South Park kicks off its 16th season on the 14th, and the day after Community returns from its long and shitty hiatus to finish off its 3rd season.

Season 15 of South Park got off to a slow start, but knocked it out of the park with their mid-season finale, ‘You’re Getting Old‘, one of the best episodes the show has ever had. I felt such a sense of excitement after that episode, and a strange hope that, although I love South Park, perhaps 15 years was enough, and Trey and Matt would finish off Season 15 and go out with a bang. Perhaps we’d even finally see a sequel to Orgazmo. Alas, they have signed on until at least 2016, and when they returned with ‘Ass Burgers‘ 4 months after ‘You’re Getting Old‘, they found a way to return everything to normal. They had some stellar episodes in the last half of the season (and one really shit one, ‘A History Channel Thanksgiving‘), so I’m excited to see how Season 16 will turn out. Below is the press release from the South Park website, along with a preview.

NEW YORK, Monday March 12, 2012  After a South Park citizen meets with an unfortunate accident, the TSA steps in to prevent it from happening again in an all-new episode of “South Park” titled, “Reverse Cowgirl,” premiering Wednesday, March 14 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on COMEDY CENTRAL.
One of the boys had been told time and time again about leaving the toilet seat up after he goes to the bathroom, but he didnt listen. His actions have consequences and ultimately result in an unimaginable catastrophe.

The one I’m more excited about is the return of Community, easily one of the smartest and funniest TV comedies of all time, and the best show on TV right now. It’s been more than 3 months since a new episode of the show has been aired, and it’s been a long and depressing wait for all us fans. After NBC took Community off the air to make room for 30 Rock and other new shows, there was fear that the show wouldn’t return. It’s a travesty when brilliant shows like Community are under constant risk of cancellation, and shows like The Big Bang Theory, which appeal to the lowest common denominator (I’m a nerd, we don’t act like that, OK) continue to thrive undeservedly. But that’s just my opinion, for what it’s worth.

Anyway, Community is finally back after the amazing Christmas episode ‘Regional Holiday Music‘, and there is a belief that the forced hiatus by NBC, leading to a fan backlash and a real show of passion for their beloved show (just search for all the “Six Seasons and a Movie” and “Save Community” campaigns around the internet), could help the show and keep it on the air. Here’s hoping, because we need more shows like it. Below is the synopis from the Community website, along with a preview.

Shirley and Andre decide to renew their vows, but Shirley’s distracted by the possibility of starting her own business with Pierce.

Get watching, and get laughing!
